Positioned for Revival

Positioned for Revival

By Vicki Gonzalez

2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Revival is not a series of meetings. Revival is the sovereign work of the Almighty God. The word ‘revival’ is from the Hebrew word chayah and means ‘to bring back to life,’ to ‘restore to consciousness,’ or to ‘restore to a previous condition,’ ‘to do it again.’

D.l. Moody said, “Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.”  Prayer manifests everything that God does.  Without prayer, God cannot move.  It is in the closet that the sounds of the rain of revival will first be heard.  Revival is always preceded by humility, by prayer, by seeking, and by a turning from wickedness.  God is ready and waiting to ‘do it again.’

It is said that beside the bed of John Wesley were two worn impressions on the carpet where he knelt hours in prayer for revival in England.  Because of his prayers, and the prayers of many others, revival fires blazed across the continent of Europe.

In 1940, some students from Wheaton College went to visit John Wesley’s home in England.  As the students were getting back on the bus to leave, the teacher noticed one student missing.  Going back upstairs he found the student kneeling in the carpet knee-holes praying with his face on the bed: “O Lord, do it again! Do it again!”

My heart’s cry is for God to do it again!  Birthing pangs of revival are breaking forth, and God is setting the stage for an unprecedented move of His Glory such as the world has never seen.  Darkness is increasing, but we, the church, are witnessing a supernatural acceleration of God’s glory, and we are standing on the brink of a history-making revival.

ICF, Revival is inevitable when we get in position.  Revival will happen when we humble ourselves, pray, seek God, and turn from wickedness.

 Prayer Points

  1. Ask God to bring deep conviction of sin, spiritual brokenness, a holy fear of God and genuine repentance among us
  2. Pray for God to bestow spiritual hunger and draw us to fervent prayer
  3. Pray that God will bring unity to the church
  4. Pray for a passion to do God’s mission, to “go and make disciples.” God use me!
  5. Pray that God will ‘do it again,’ that God will pour out His Spirit and move in an unprecedented way such as the world has never seen.
